From the sonic assault of 1977’s debut 45, ‘Television Screen’, to the finest and most pertinent Irish rock album of all time, “Ghostown”, was a brief two years and in that time the Radiators abandoned (from Space) and grew massively as a force of music. For the first time in Irish cultural life a rock music 33rpm could sit pretty alongside the country’s literary and dramatic output. 30 years elapsed during which they busied themselves in production, design, Poguetry and the retention of artistic integrity. In 2006 they returned with another great record ripped from the headlines and suffused with politics personal; and universal. Oh and (from Space) is back. (RA) |
